Owing to space problems, and cold winter, I have a choice of either

assembling my motor now, and waiting to install and start until spring

OR

assembling in spring, but having all the motor parts lying about, possibly
getting contaminated with dirt, or lost

THe question is, will the assembly lube hold in the various places sufficiently for , say 3 months? I have this Lucas engine assembly lube.

THanks

Sitting for that long assembled shouldn't be a problem. I save silica gel desiccant pouches for situations like these. Get a very large heavy-duty garbage bag and bag the motor with a decent size desiccant bag to absorb any moisture.

The most critical wear area on a new or rebuilt engine is the cam to lifter interface. Be sure to lube the cam lobes and lifters well. Don't rotate the engine until you're ready to start it so the lube stays on the cam lobes.
