Hey Gang

I seem to be missing a few bits. Can somebody post a photo of what the alternator bracket looks like? My Alt is near the fender. aftermarket A/C was removed so it's not over the water pump. I'm visual so describing it probably won't help LOL! Also, the junk yards around here have stuff like this laying around....so finding one still on an engine is rare.

Here's what I have at the moment.

Thanks in advance!

The top bracket looks like a piece of angle iron. It bolts flat to the head and across to the top of the alternator. The alt bolts into a slot so that it can rotate on the axis of the lower bolt to tighten up the belt.

You can make one easy with a piece of angle, a drill and an angle grinder to cut the slot.

Good luck.

I have one or two extras in my parts stash. $5 plus shipping. PM me if you want one. Put that aftermarket A/C back on!

I've seen two types of alt brackets...

one looks like a 1" wide by 1/4" lip angle iron with a 1/2" hole in one end
and a "slot" the same type on the other end for the alternator adjustment bolt...

The more common type is the same but it have a 'tab' of metal back toward the mount for the block that keeps the heater hoses out of the way of the fan belt.

Either works fine.

Rob,

Take a look at mine, it's a 74 90 degree angle type. Click on the red link below my name to view the photos. Double click on the picture once it comes up to put it in full screen slide show mode. Slide 5 and 6 show a little and 29 shows the end profile. Sorry I don't have better shots, but the slot is handy to wire tie the hoses. Imagine and angle iron with the top leg trimmed back and slotted for alternator adjustment and a hole in the other end bolted to the head.
