Hello, I am at the point where I am assembling the K1 Rods and Wiesco iston combo.

I have a question about the piston Orinetation in regard to the valve reliefs.

Here is a picture of the pistons:

Should the valve reliefs be closer to the Freeze plug side of the engine or the Oil pump side of the engine?

Previous data from the engine build in the dart would suggest the Valve pockets Should be installed nearest the Freezeplug side - Just want to confirm.

Also with the K1 rods - there is no oil squirt hole from the connecting rod bearing so does it matter which way the rod itself gets installed as there is no oil squirt hole on the big end and 2 (one on either side) oil Holes on the top end fof the pin?

Thanks a lot!

Greg

I found it did not matter which way they (rods) were installed. No oiling hole or relief like the RB/B and LA rods have. Be sure to check your side clearance. The wider side of the specification would be better IMO.

As a guess, I would think the relief would go towards the spark plugs with the big flat spot as part of the squish area.

Tom, thanks on the Rod info.

I have a much more pressing matter with the Valve notches as they Will be needed to clear my Cam Duration and Lift!

I just dont want to get the engine back and put it togher and have the valves hit the pistons.

Notches should be closer to the freeze plug side.
