Looking to price out a complete front end rebuild on my brother's 74 Duster. Going to rebuild all the front end suspension while we swap to disc brakes. Looking at Rockauto.com, it looks like it will be about $220 if I use all Moog brand components (bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc...) For a street driven car, is Moog a good brand?

Yikes, justsuspension charges twice the cost for the same parts. I know you get what you pay for, but I need something a bit cheaper.

I just did this from Rock Auto and used mainly the Raybestos "Professional Grade" parts. They are made in the USA for the most part and generally cost less than Moog, I don't remember how much I spent but I know it was less than Just Suspension because I compared it at the time. I think it was around $400.00 and that included all tie rod ends and sleeves, all balls joints, and all the bushings.

Thanks. I haven't heard back from OCPNW, but I also haven't ordered from Rockauto yet. The problem is that I really need to get this stuff by next weekend, so mailorder is really looking to be my best bet. I previously sent an e-mail to OCPNW and never got an answer.

Grrr. Shipping makes the Raybestos parts more expensive, but by about $20. If the quality is better and it is made in the US, I'll pay it, but I want to be sure be fore I spend my money.

Last month, I ordered mostly Moog parts from Rockauto to rebuild my Valiant suspension and to convert to disk brakes. Everything, except the rubber bumpers, was made in the USA. The bumpers were made in Mexico.

The brake parts were mostly Raybestos, and the country of origin varied. Some were China, but most were USA.

I'd be glad to provide the part numbers I ordered, if you are interested.

Hmmmmmmm. I have used Moog in the past with good results, the price is cheaper, and now I am hearing they are still made in the US? Argh. I might just roll the dice and see what I get when I order Moog parts. Everything is a crapshoot these days.

moog? junk/China? since when? Im not disputing just wondering when the changeover happened. I have always had good luck with Moog (Champion plugs too) I'm contemplating ordering a complete front end for my truck come Spring. Something to watch for when I order parts; I've been known to return un unstalled parts just because they were made in China.
All I can say is that hopefully Moog built enough parts when they "were" the best, that the warehouse has the parts I will need with about an inch of dust on the boxes then, huh?

Federal-Mogul have been early-retiring their engineers, systematically replacing them with MBAs. I don't mean fewer engineers, I mean almost none. Huge and increasing chunks of their product line are entirely farmed out on a low-bid basis to China. I have been in a position to observe this transition directly on both the supply and purchase ends, and while it started in the late 1990s, it has rapidly accelerated recently. The quality standard is more or less "good enough for people who don't care".

Champion spark plugs? Go buy an NGK and just take a plain ol' look at them side by each.
