Mike Lazano from CP pistons (member here, CPMike) has completed his pistons for his 225 slant and asked me to post for him. NICE looking pistons, dish type for lowered compression on the street ride, std length 225 rods and very nice quality! Check them out...

I had my stock rods bushed to accept a .866" diameter wristpin and I had the small end narrowed to .900" to fit the forging better. Going to a .866" pin is a much better choice for availability and reletive to the pistons. I actually made my pistons from 4032 alloy only because it will be for a street car and they will be more quite on the street.

With a stock rod what will the target compression be given a stock CC head?

What is th weight of these Slugs?

The skirts look awfully long - Like stock Pieces.

That was my concern too Greg. Looks like a stock piston w/a dish, and maybe the pin lowered which would make no sense.

Why get a custom piston like this with low compression if it is not going to be raced or have a power adder?

I agree with Greg, those skirts are HUGE!

Below is a stock replacement piston vs a Wiesco with only the compression distance moved .300 for the longer K1 rod

To answer the some of the questions, comments and doubts :? concerning my pistons & combination, here it is: 1. With the 4.125" stroke, 6.700" rod length, .007" piston to deck and my 10.700" finished deck hieght I am left with a compression distance of 1.930" Hence the "long skirt" :!:

2. My cylinder head was slightly milled to get 53cc(actually started @ 56cc). Along with my custom Cometic .053" head gasket, minimal dish, correct valve pockets leaves me a pump regular 9.75:1 compression.
3. Piston weight is 393 grams by way of 5 axis CNC under crown milling. 393 grams is very light for a piston with a 1.930 c.d.!
Unfortunately the pics that my good friend Woody posted are not a large enough image for all to appreciate the great work performed on my pistons.
4. finally I'm building this slant because: A. I wanted to build something different and neat with the helpful resources @ my work and through some of my great customers.
:B. As with anyone else who enjoys building hot rods, I'm building it the way I like it wether anyone else does or not :!:

Yes this is good. It looked like the Weight was going to be very high when just eyeballing the intial shots of the pistons.

Unfortunately on my 1st attempt even with my work bying connection, I could not get a MLS head gasket made right off the bat. It it alot more complicated and expensive :cry: to have any new MLS gasket made the 1st time out. In short to cover the cost of tooling I would have had to get a minimum of 50 pcs order X my *&^% cost which comes out to several thousand dollars.
So I opted to get the next best thing that Cometic would make for me without the big upfront investment. My gasket is a compressed multi fiber material with a fire ring. Uncompressed it measure .059 and compressed it gets down to .053 +/-. If any one is interested in this type of gasket please email me.
Going back to my pistons, I designed them originally with the intent of running some nitrous but now I'm contemplating to install a centrifigal supercharger from one of my customers in Europe: Rotrex. This was another reason behind the 9.75:1 comp ratio. My ring pack consists of a 1.2mm gas nitride X 1.5mm napierX 2.5 flex vent. My wristpins are a .866" x 2.250 length x .170" wall in 9310 steel for big nitrous or boost.

Nice work, Mike. Quite light piston package!

I'm interested in this new gasket.

I'm pretty sure we could sell 50 gaskets within one year, and likely 20-30 in one month. I might be willing to front some $$ for a MLS project with Cometic if we can really get it done. My motivation is to have a good gasket for the aluminum engine, so at least one version of the gasket would have to have about 3.440-3.450" bore size.
