Hi everyone, I am looking for head gasket options for a 3.5" bore slant motor. It is a fresh, 10.5 CR, carbureted, race motor.
The sealing ring on a standard Fel Pro composition gasket is only a few thousands larger than the cylinder bore. Even if I center it perfectly I'm afraid that is too close to combustion.
I hope to use a composition or copper head gasket, at approx .040" thick. I have checked out some old forum topics about the Aussie and Hussey-Copper gaskets, but it sounds like I missed the bus on availability. Can anybody give me a good lead ?
... Thanks, valiant V300

The Permaseal gasket from Australia may be your best bet. Their fire ring is approximately .200 larger in diameter than the standard gaskets. They are available for Pentastar Parts and Restorations for somewhere in the vicinity of $70 - $80 + shipping.

How quick do you need it? I get regular shipments from Aussie Speed and could get one shipped over in the next load. Or I have both copper and Permaseal on the shelf here. PM me and let me know,
Frank

If you can't get an Aussie one , call Hussy, I'm sure they would make one for you if they don't have any left.

Hussey doesn't "stock" the slant gasket, but since the group purchase, it is a standard item, and can be made quickly. Just call them and tell them what bore size and thickness you want.

The Permaseal aussie/kiwi gasket is probably best. I just sold my last spares of those.

ACL Australia also makes a 3.540" bore gasket that is cheaper and I have some spares. I could probably sell you a couple of those if you're interested. Compressed is about 0.045". I have one in my 3.504" bore 11:1 motor I'm about to drop into my Valiant racecar.

Thanks to the members that offered help and advice in locating the oversize head gaskets for my race motor. My best option is the Permaseal gasket made in Australia, it will fit up to a 3.66" bore.
Not long after I wrote the original topic, I heard back from Australia that some Permaseal gaskets should be available. Since the expensive part of buying from Oz is the shipping, I have ordered 10 gaskets and I am currently waiting for confirmation and price.
In a couple weeks I should have my head gaskets, and a few extras in case some US slant sixers need one. I will post a reply to this topic when I get them and you can reach me by PM if you need a gasket.
Thanks Again ... Gary

In addition to the 10 that Gary is getting. I am stocking them here in Arkansas.
