My '73 Dart has the voltage regulator on the driver's side of the firewall, not far from the master cylinder and just "around the corner" from the ignition box which is on the driver's side inner fender.

I need a new engine wiring harness, and Evans Wiring hasn't got a pattern for a '73 slant-6 A-body. I have picked up used harnesses from a '73 and a '74 A-body, but both of them have the voltage regulator plug very close to the three wires (two field, one output) that attach to the alternator itself -- basically at the opposite corner of the engine compartment to where my car's voltage regulator is located. Mine's at the left rear, but these harnesses place it at the right front. Soooo...if you own a '73 or later A-body, will you please tell me where your voltage regulator is? Maybe this is an early vs. late production thing?

Thanks, good info. My '71 had the regulator on the firewall, same as my (early build) '73, so I'm guessing it is an early/late '73 split. The weird thing is there's no such split shown in the final-edition '73 FPC.

Hey Dan

On my 73 Duster the VR is just to the drivers side of the MC. I can email you a pic of the engine bay it that helps.

Cheers

Brent

Thanks for that — no need; Evans now has a pattern in hand for early-production '73 A-body 6-cylinder with firewall-mounted VR.
