do y'all still need some wirin'? {FL speak:haha} I may have it! I still have the dash to a '64 dart parts car with wiring intact. I'll double check and get back to you tommorow. If not, I got the dash and still would like to get rid of it cheap!

Thanks! Rick (Dago Red) has one that I'm probably going to use, but I'll keep you in mind just in case. I appreciate the offer!

So...another question I have would be, what are the odds that things like my heater, A/C, instrument cluster and radio made it? I checked the fuse box and nothing is burned out or melted around there. Would a fuse provide any protection against such a thing, or does it just blow when there's an access of power?

Fuse thought.....check out your picture where the red wire is coming from the battery & attaching to the stud....there normally is a fuseable link attaching at the same point.

Your picture appears to show a fuseable link that appears covered in smokey deposits.

You might want to replace this fuseable link at the same time the harness is replaced to rule out damage that might have occurred locally.

Shock! :shock:

I just had the alternator test...and it works! That's the good news. Now I just need to get a battery in there and see what else can be done. I definitely need to replace the grounding strap. I was just looking at that and it's a mess. This may not be nearly as bad as I thought!

Chuck, the harness is in the hands of the United States Postal Service, enroute to beautiful Gainsville Florida. It was only a ten spot to ship. Don't even sweat the money thing right now bud.
First, get your rig up and running, if that harness solves your "perdickerment", then we'll make medicine on a cost later on (trust me I'll go cheap on a brother Slanter). Besides, it would make a dandy excuse to come to the Gators to collect, doing the adult beverage thing and all......RICK

Thanks again, Rick! This is a fantastic wiring harness and it did come in handy. The "fuse link" the genius I had work do before was a joke. He used 10 gauge to make the link...so everything around it fried EXCEPT the fuse link. More soon, I hope.

I recently had to do something similar on my truck... only I put an inline fuse holder in with a 30A fuse. I honestly DK how many amps the orig fusible link was rated for... but thats better than nothing.

Well, a few days worth of elbow grease followed by a week sick in bed and...I think we got it figured out! I had some help from a local friend that does electrical work, but with a little coaxing, we were able to make the wiring harness from the Dart work just fine. While it was under the knife, we also fixed the stereo so it doesn't turn off when the wipers turn on, and the passenger door switch activates the dome light! It hasn't done that in the 13 years I've had the car. I drove it to work today, and it ran like a champ.

Thanks again, Rick, for your help with the parts. I'll be contacting you soon. And as always, thank you all for your great advice.
