Yep, SPAX single-adjustable shocks. The ARengineering hangers should work great and can be had from magnumhp.com. I have those, and I made my own set of SOLID aluminum 1" spacers from 1"X2.5" bar stock (mcmaster.com). I bought the cheapies from Summit, and they broke. I bought the better ones from Afco, and they broke (on the '64), so I gave up. Might be something about my spring/shock plates and spring shape??

Howdy folks,

Been awhile since there was an update - can't believe it, almost 2 yrs.

New engine and trans are now installed and running in Project V (as of Sat 2/6/10 @ 6 PM). Pictures to follow. Did valve adjustment and broke in cam Sunday. Front suspension is assembled except for shocks and alignment. Thanks for help from Brian Mimken, Jim Wahmhoff, Josh Bryson, and John McCreary.

Should get it out for test'n'tune in April if not sooner, then on to Hagerstown...

More wrenchin' this weekend. Should get seat, front shocks, trans cooler in, clean up some wiring and reinstall "mini dashboard." Maybe windows? Needs tuning too.

Nice work Lou - Is this the engine with all the holes Drilled in the side of the block from thd previous owner?


Also Are you using that baffled oil pan with the kickouts that I saw too?


With those 4 Little Cutouts in your timing cover You will be able to get access to the 4 bolts to unlock the timing adjustment, but How will you see the marks on the cam and sprocket to tell where you are?


Your garage addition looks nice. I am sure you are going to fill it with lotsa car junk and a lift and a whole bunch of slant parts soon!

Looking FANTASTIC,I Love, Hate Webbers.I probably got over 40 hrs in dialing in my 45 on my Bugeye sprite. I did pick up 9 rw hp which is alot.Went from 66 to 75.Wish I had the time, money,patience,to put them on a slant.They are hands down the coolest induction that can work really well on a slant in my opinion.BEEing good friends with Tilley will greatly help you with the tuneing.Guzzi Mark

We'll see how the Weber tuning goes. I'll try for a while and might switch back to a single carb if they don't cooperate. I may also put port injectors in and use the Weber carbs as air valves with Megasquirt EFI.

That is the block with the little oil holes drilled (now plugged with screws), and yes the big roadrace oilpan is on there. I may just pull the radiator to do a cam timing change (4 screws and two hoses), although there's 3-5" of clearance now and I might try a dentists mirror.

Square tubes on LCAs are custom sway bar mounts for running heim joint end links.

We got most of seat mounting figured out yesterday (Feb 13), mounted front shocks and front valence supports, and installed trunk weatherstrip and O2 sensor (NB for now).

Valve cover is a leftover from some Jim Cox had made up about 6 yrs ago, but the guy mistakenly used an 80s head to build it and no one would buy them. I have an 80s head on this car. Don't know if there are any left...

Got cornerweights on the car last night. With a few things missing, full 12 gal cell, and me in it, it was 2628 lbs. 55/45 front/rear. Will add a net of +35-40 lbs to get it race ready or about 2665 lbs.

Last weight (2006) was 2715 lbs racewt with 57/43 front/rear. Making progress...

Project V moved under it's own power for the first time since Feb '07. First time outta the garage since about Jan '08. Took a coupla spins around the block at 15-30 MPH and everything seems OK.

Can't believe how easily it spins the tires. I think I'll need some stickier meats.

Just need to install windows and hood and it's ready to race. Hope to make t'n't at motormiledragway(.com) on April 30 and May 14, and get it tuned up for Hagerstown on May 22-23!
