I lost my card, anyone know what the lash is supposed to be for the ersons cams? I did a search and everything from .12 to .22 came up. I believe that my cam was in the .460-.470 lift range.

My cam is the Erson 270 with .465 lift. The recommended lash is .015 int. / .015 ex. for this cam.

If you get the number off the end of the cam I should be able to get the lash for you.
My "special" is .022 I/E so they vary.

The Erson cam card says .023 I/E hot for that cam.

All right, its set at .015 for now, I'll be firing it up this weekend, after break in, I'll see how she sounds, if need be I'll back it down.

.008 is a lot I would back them off. Seeing as you have the correct number of .023.
Just my 02.

I'm not sure how it was determined that .023 was the correct lash. I don't see where the cam was positively identified. All we have that I can see is that it is an Erson with lift in the range of .460-.470. My Erson 270 has a lift of .465 and the card for it specifies a running clearance of .015 intake and exhaust. What am I missing?

Sorry I thought we had IDed it. Still better loose by .008 than tight by .008.

Having used a number of the Erson grinds, I would start off at .018 lash on the intakes and .020 on the exhaust.

If it starts and runs smooth at idle without ticking, I would double-check the lash hot and try going a touch looser on the exhaust (.022)and a touch tighter (.016) on the intake, just to see if you like it better.
Just my 2 cents...

Erson #E 470621 - TQ 20 M
duration 270
lift .465
center line 107

The cam card says .023 hot for intake and exhaust.

When I set up may engine, I did .020 cold I/E for initial startup. It ran fine but the vacuum gauge was bouncing around. It is now set at .022 hot I/E, with no valve train clatter. Vacumm gauge is now between 13 and 14 at 750 rpm, with a noticeable lope to the idle.

I'm not trying to be contrary, just trying to understand. Here is my cam card:

My card is the similar, but with a different format. The only difference is the lash setting. Mine is .023 hot and yours is presumably .015 cold, .008 for heat build up in the valve train seems reasonable.

I should probably call them before I install it, just to clarify. I don't see anything to indicate whether the setting is hot or cold. The other thing I see is that you said your cam is 107* centerline but mine is indicated at 111* but the grind number is the same. I wonder why the difference....
