If I were to bump up my carb from a 1 barrel what would be my best choices. If I have to replace my carb and intake what would be the best route to go. Just a daily driver that wants a some power but still has to pass emissions cutpoints.

Personally, unless you do some major modifications, I think you can probably get good performance out of your one barrel. Max I would go on a street motor would be a two barrel. Four barrels are for high performance, high-rpm slants.

I've had good luck with my 390 Holley 4 bbl on an Offy manifold. The 390 4 bbl has smaller primary venturis than even the Holley 350 CFM 2 bbl. Engine is a 225 with a ported head fitted with 1.70/1.44" valves and is a true 8.5:1, but has a stock '67 cam. Frank Raso has used a Quadrajet on a 225. His carburetion article is very good. http://www.rasoenterprises.com/index.ph ... &Itemid=49

I never went faster at the strip with a 465cfm holley than I did with a BBD. Everything else the same.
