Im in the process of gathering parts for my future 225 build that will be a hot street motor with 10.25-10.5 to 1 cr but no spray or other types of boost. What type and brand of rings would be best for this?
I have personally inspected both Hastings and Sealed power cast rings and they both look like quality rings although they are both different with the Hastings having a square top ring opposed to Sealed powers beveled top ring and the oil rings differ slightly. Both are USA made.I am using Silvolite pistons if that makes a difference.
What other ring sets are out there and should I use somthing other than cast rings?
Thanks in advance

Three pieces of advice:

1) Do NOT use total seal gapless rings.
2) Spend a bit more for a moly ring and not the cheapest of those. You get what you pay for.
3) If you can find lower tension oil rings than stock, that will free up some HP.

Otherwise, I'm not sure it matters much.

I put Sealed Power molys in the '64 Dart rering 4 yrs ago. No problems, but more drag than the old "medium tension" MP rings I used in 1992. I think this is one reason my mileage and HP got slightly worse (few %) after the rering.
