I have a 1975 225 sl6 from a Valiant. I'm replacing the timing chain and gears but cannot locate the timing tab on the cover. I think it must have broken off in the past (before I had the engine). I've been looking for another cover since I'm simply unable to locate this tab. Trouble is, even the shop manual doesn't show a tab or mark on the 225 cover.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks

Dan

Sure, it is located on the upper left side when looking down from the front of the engine. About the same angle as the heater return line that goes into the water pump. Maybe you can find a picture hear on the site.

Or it might have had the bolt on type, then you would have to look on the drivers side not from the passengers side. The timing mark will also not be at the same place on the balancer.

This is a '74 timing cover, which should be the same as your '75. Keep in mind that the engine is standing straight up in this photo.
