I have a '71 Dart and i'm having trouble finding a couple of the emblems for it. I was able to locate the Swinger and the DART emblems just fine...re-production.

I am having trouble finding the SPECIAL emblem (rectangle that has the words SPECIAL written in it), as well as the trunk emblem which I believe says DODGE. Does anyone know a good source where I can buy these 2 emblems?

Also, did the '71 Dart have a hood emblem? If so what was it?

Thanks!!!

H'mm. I'm not aware of any such an emblem being installed from the factory on a '71 Dart. Is it possibly something someone stuck on after the car was already built and delivered? Can you show us a photo of the old one? About the only possibility that comes to mind is the "Western Sport Special" dress-up/trim package that was available for a few years. Those tended to get callouts like this, though. There was a Dart "Special Edition", but not until 1974, and its badges mostly said "SE".

Hood same as trunk, Year One #VC765 (I like the VC482 much better, though)

I'll try and snap a photo of the SPECIAL emblem today after work. Basically on the front fenders it has the SWINGER emblem, and the SPECIAL emblem right below it.

The DART emblem is on the rear quarters, below the rear window.

My last '71 Dart had the Swinger emblem in the same place, but the Dart emblem was right below it if I recall, not on the rear quarter.

Yep, my mistake, you're right. Interesting, hadn't seen that "Special" nameplate before, but there it is in the '70-'71 FPC, part number 3570 983.

You're going to have to beat the bushes (peruse NOS part vendor catalogues).

Dan,
Do you know if the VC765 emblems are stick-on or do they have pins? Also if there are pins, what are the arrangements? I have 3 holes on the passenger side of the trunk lid on my '71 dart...and I have no idea what they're for! I'm wondering if they're for a DODGE emblem (the VC765) or if I should weld them shut before paint...
