Have the opportunity to purchase a 72 Dodge B100 Van with a slant 6,for next to nothing because it needs a tranny(Automatic/Torqueflite).

I can also score a complete 1980 D100 Longbed truck that has a slant 6 engine(thrown rod) but good Torqueflite tranny for dirt cheap.

Is the tranny in the 1980 truck a lockup style? If so,will it function properly in the 72 Van?

Will the truck tranny bolt right up to the 1972 slant 6 thats in the van?

Will there be tailshaft /mount issues to also consider?

Might or might not be lockup, but that's of no consequence. If both transmissions are the same type (904 -- check by comparing the shape of the trans pan) then they'll swap directly.

The tranny in the 1980 maybe of the lockup type (some are some aren't...and who knows if it's still the original tranny).

You can bolt up any 1968-1987 slant six automatice tranny to your 1972...
They all have the same late model crankpockets.

Tailshaft, slip yoke, driveline length, etc...will depend on the tranny and lengths of the vehicles.
