I need to upgrade my throttle setup. its a non cable type. the set up now, will not allow the carburetor to open up very much. very sloppy. Cable Bound?

Do I need to replace the complete setup including the gas peddle?

There's no cable to bind in a non-cable type. Perhaps some of your bushings are loose and sloppy (or missing), or maybe the kickdown linkage is screwed up or hitting the exhaust pipe, and blocking full travel. Have you checked?

Pedal assembly, yes.

Speaking of the kickdown linkage I presume there is some type of retainer for it at the tranny - mine has fallen out and I'm wondering what holds it in - heh.
