Car Model:
After three or four weeks trying to get Dad out to adjust the rocker arms with me, we finally did it today. The rocker arms are somewhat quieter, not as much improvement as I had hoped. The idle changed very slightly. Some might recall me complaining of a skip on idle whenever the tranny is in PARK or NEUTRAL but isn't present in gear. Well the skip was reduced, a little bit but it's still there, just less drastic and more intermittant. But on the other hand, throttle response is up. HP department saw about a 5 H.P. improvement (+-2). Torque is up alot, I've spun the tires only 3 times in the past, and it would only do it in a hard right turn. Well my 4th time (after the work) the "burnout" lasted longer.

On to the skip, Tommorrow I'm gonna try to get Dad out with me to recheck the timing. I can't recall the specs, is it 3 BDC static? After the timing check, I'd like to try and check the carburetor's tune afterwords. The fender tag says 550 RPM Idle in neutral, is that good? Or should I go with the classic, get it as low as possible just short of the point where the car begins to stall and/or no longer moves on its own in gear?

And good news in the ignition department :D Dad mentioned that about 6 years ago he purchased an electronic distributor and control unit. He said he never hooked it up because he needed to get some sort of plug connector for the control unit. Well long story short it turned up in the basement 8) The control unit is fine, luckly it's sealed it had a bit of condensation on one side of it. I'll get a picture of the plug tommorrow after school. The distributor, it turns out, is actually a reman. I'll get a picture of it tommorrow too.

And last but not least, I have one last question... I know the engine in the Dart is a 1966 reman put in by the previous owner. I don't know if it was a long block or short block though. Under the rocker arm cover, I noticed numbers, so I took a picture on my cell phone.

Not the best picture, it reads 2843169-3. Is this a 1970 casting number? Or 1966? Or some other year entirely?

Anywho, I got alot done today, and I'm very satisfied. Goodnight to all
