Sandy did this swap. IIRC, he measured the axle from the other side and cut the difference off the housing, then just got another of the shorter axles.

Thanks a mill. ... well going to Sutton engineering on Friday to have it cut and welded. ... Sandy how did you gig the parking brake cables up... and what did you do for the hydraulic setup...On a personal note Sandy's a musical car Condesour in my book... to many people build parts catalog cars and forgot about the old school. I call this time "BC" (Before catalogs)

You'll find all Mopar axle dimensions here. Why not make a swap with a Ford owner and get a Mopar 8 3/4" that drops right in?

I chose an 8.8 for many reasons, price, availability, rear access cover For easy swaps, stock 3.73 gears 31 spline axles...disc brake upgrades... and a cool swap to do.j

Just clearing something up. Isn't the Mustang 8.8" only an inch wider than an A-body rear???

The truck/explorer rear needs one axle shortened or swapped from the "short side" of another rear end.

Right?
