Hi,
My names Ben and I'm a newbie and would appreciate your help.

I have a 225L It has extractors, a aussiespeed long runner 2bbl intake, and a 350 holley on it.
It's been ported and polished (Not sure to what degree or anything was bought like this)
It's got a new electrionic ignition and ECM to go with it etc with a new coil.

I want to build the engine up to get over 225hp or closer to 300...

I don't have a heap of money only (AUD)$1800.

I was thinking a new cam (I don't know much about cams or what to get...) with lifters.

And new pistons to increase compression for starters?

Based on what I've said What do you reckon the HP and/or Torque would be for that kind of setup? Or am I gonna get kicked for asking too much.

Thanks alot!

We wont kick you yet......but you should do some searching.

Cam and compression will be required for 200hp......

Search, search, search, then read, read, read, and then search and read some more. You get the idea. :D

I don't think $1800 will get you what you want. I only say this because you're chasing power and HP = $$$$. But hey, you could well prove me wrong. You could always get a NOS kit for less than that. :)

If you want some local knowledge with regards to prices have a look at http://www.moparmarketforum.com/forum/index.php

Thanks
Having read the first few pages of the board (There so much...)

I Believe that Torque is what I want to achieve.

Is 350nm a reasonable number? Or is that just insane to ask for of such an old car?

I say 350 as my dads falcon is rated somewhere around there and it seems standard now days?

Apart from sound I want to feel like the car has a real grunt when it takes off.

Is this your daily driver car? Will you be using it for drag racing? If so how fast do you want to go in the 1/4 mile? Is gas mileage a concern? A bigger cam and alot more compression would get you closer to your goal. If you don't mind using high test pump gas you can run 10.5:1 compression. My car is 10.7:1 and runs on 93 octane. I would raise compression by shaving the head/block and keep the stock pistons for now if you are trying to save money. Also changing to lower rear gears will make it have more "grunt" when you take off.

Yep, a gear swap can do big things. I went from 2.92 gears to 3.7s and dropped my ET from 16.37 to 15.58, with no other change but the gears. Mind you it was an open centre 2.92 diff and a locked 3.7, but you get the idea. :)
Short gears will drive you crazy if it's a daily driver though.
