I believe that I was able to fix the stripped threads effectively, I will keep an eye on it, but I used a combination of Permatex Thread restore compound, which is rated for torquing up to 18 Lbs for that size of thread, and is approved for use on all sorts of automotive fluids, besides brake fluid. Once that compound was set, and the carb was re-installed, I applied a gas and fluid sealing thread sealant to the threads before final installation.

I have no leaks, and feel pretty confident about the repair. The thread repair compound is rated to an adequate Ft Lbs, and the thread sealant is rated to 800 PSI for gasoline. The repair cost me $15 and about 1 hour from removal of the carb, dissasembly, repair, clean up, re-assy, to re-installation and engine running. And the kit came with enough to do about 30 stripped holes! hahaha... I hope I never use all of that, but good to know that I can in a bind.

So is it running well? I would pick up a spare carb just in case.

yeah, it's running well. No leaks at the gas inlet. It's torqued down properly too.

I'm still keepin my ears open for a spare old carb body in case i start seeing a leak.
