Hey,
my slant 6 has been ported and polished extractors full new big ignition and coil etc.

I have a long runner two barrel intake.

So the big question is should I use a carter 2bbl (Not sure what type or model it is, however when bought I was told it came off a 245 Hemi?)

Or a 350 Holley?

Also I am a little worried if the air filter will poke through the bonnet if I use the 350. Has anyone else had this problem?

Keeping in mind I do plan to get a new cam and perhaps new pistons to increase the compression.

Anyone can help me out, I am pretty new to this...

At this point in time, I would recommend the Holley simply because you can still get the carbs and parts new and they are more tune-able than the Carter BBD. You will have to spend some time adapting throttle and kickdown linkages and fine-tuning the carb.

What car are you putting it in? A drop base air will help you out if clearance is an issue, that's what I use. :)

1967 VC Valiant sedan :).

It's first car I am doing up so I am still learning loads and loads of stuff all the time.

I am pretty sure I know what kind of filter that is, but from what I've seen that the filter surface area is smaller?

Does this mean you replace it more (This wouldn't worry me)

Or does it limit air intake? (This more so does)

I don't want the filter to stick out of the bonnet as it wouldn't be in the center and rain etc...

So I think that filter seems like a good idea :).

Sorry I just re-read my post. I meant to say drop base air cleaner. These air filter assemblies have a recessed base that just lowers the total height of the assembly. They are very common.
You shouldn't have any clearance problems with a VC, if you use a drop base air filter/cleaner.
Here's mine. Although not on a VC.
