so this is a tentative problem, i bought the ssbc kit off craigslist last year, getting it on this year. had some old steel slotted mags that were 14"s so figure those would work. they do except they rub a little on the caliper. this could be a caliper spacing issue, not sure i have the spacers/washers in the right order, exploded diagram isnt clear and their tech support was closed yesterday. if i put it the way i had it first (torqued to spec) then the brake pad rubs on one side, if i put it like it is now the caliper rubs on the wheel. going to go put the drivers side on and work on other stuff that has to be done no matter what, but not sure what to do with wheels. i think i may have a 14" stock wheel around here somewhere, i might try that and go from there. or are there spacers to bring it out a little that are safe? i bought some standard chrome lug nuts at the store and was worried they werent deep enough to take in the whole of the stud, theyre pretty long, but they fit. could i even just put some washers on the studs? how unsafe is that? in a perfect world i would have money to buy a nice set of 14 or 15" wheels that would clear, but now im poor, have a car halfway together and a pair of steel mags that are the right bolt pattern.
whatcha think?
thanks!

just to make sure its clear, the caliper isnt rubbing on the top, its rubbing on the side, like the flat part of the wheel is rubbing on the part of the caliper you see from the side.

I had the same prob. ..........the calipers would not work on stock steel wheels but worked perfectly on rallyes. I used wheel spacers(not real safe) until I could buy the other rallyes I needed.
regards max

Many drum brake wheels will not fit disc brakes. The Chrysler engineers redesigned the wheels with additional clearance for disc brake cars. There is no guarantee any factory part will fit aftermarket disc brake kits, especially really random kits like the ones that SSBC make. They use a caliper that appears to be a KH knockoff in their kits. Probably an old Mustang design that they retrofitted to the Mopar kits.

It should always be surprising when a random selection of parts actually fit together. Instead, often times people seem surprised and even upset that a bunch of parts don't fit together.

trying to put on old slotted mags, figured they were new enough they had been designed for discs, but guess not. ssbc book said it needed at least 14" wheels, and thats what ive got, mostly a spacing issue. im actually pretty impressed with how easily the ssbc kit went on, using new(included) and factory pieces, overall a pretty good little kit, glad i was able to get it for much less then the 1k they charge for them though!
