hey all, i have been working on getting my dart back up for a while, did a disc brake conversion with the ssbc kit, need at least 14" wheels, have some steel slotted mags that are 14", and bought new lug nuts, but the wheels are too flat on the back and dont clear the calipers. i had heard bad things about spacers, but then was reading again and saw that lou has been running some for 8 years without issue. one cool part of this kit is it came with lbp and sbp studs, i already knocked out the lbp, not sure if the studs will be ok, i think they should be, dont think i had to hit them enough to booger the threads up, may be able to go back to lbp. i found some 15 cragars, the guy said theyre for the back though, and are deep, so probably wouldnt fit right. he also said the wheels for neons would fit, i remember someone saying before they wouldnt, but i do have some dual pattern wheels on my trashed stratus, that have 5 x 100 and 5 x 114.3, but 5x4" equals 5 x 101.6 mm, which is close, but not exact. havent tried putting them on, but seems like someone said not to use those. not sure the lugnuts i have will fit those wheels, but i have 1 like new, 2 brand new, and 1 decent tire on the stratus and dont have money to throw around, so would be nice to use what i have...
so thoughts on:
-old steel slotted mags with spacers (what spacers are best?)
-putting in lbp studs and using wheels from something else 5x4.5 (suggestions? saw mustang wheels work but my local yard only has a 94 and saw lou was using newer)
-deep cragars, will they fit right? what about spacers with them (100 for the pair, have decent tires and lugnuts with them)
-other options, preferably cheap! thanks

I advise going with the LBP and getting some newer model wheels. V6 Mustang takeoff rims in 16X7.5" are cheap on Ebay. I got a set of 4 in perfect shape from a 2000 V6 Mustang for $200 shipped.

You can try some Mr. Gasket 7/16" thick spacers on those slot mags, which are not likely to be hub centric anyway (meaning that hole in wheel snugly fits the hub OD). Be careful that your studs are long enough to get more than 1/2" thread engagement with the lugnuts. I really think LBP is the way to go, though.

Lou

i will look around and see what i can find in lbp, for now i just want to drive it, the ssbc kit has pretty long studs so shouldnt be a problem getting 1/2" with a 7/16" spacer, see some that say 5x4.5, they have oval shaped holes, look like they may fit 5x4, still looking into that...thanks for the help!

Hey Andy.Call me and we can get together to get a solution to this problem. My truck has 5 on 4.5 15"rims.We can see if they clear the calibers. If they do we can measure the backspacing and know what to look for.
