OK so I just got my engine back and I have to assemble it now. The crank has a tag that says it has to be cleaned throughly before assembly. Can this be done with soap & water or do I have to get it hot tanked?

Carb/choke or brake cleaner will do fine. Get a small round brush for the oil holes.

I'm not 100% sure but, I would guess that the oil paths need to be cleared of chips/grit.
Good luck
