So made a deal of a lifetime, traded a 79 slant 6(I got for free) that had a rebuild with less then 1000 kms on it. for a 1963 Belvedere 4 door with a slant in it. I intend to revive the 63 slant and pushbutton auto and throw a turbo setup on it. I have a 4bbl offenhauser manifold and will get an airbox and likely a 600 cfm 4 bbl quickfuel carb. I'm not 100% sure on the size of the turbo all I know is it's a T2 and I'm getting it for the cost of lunch(my boss' brother in law wants to see a turboed slant 6 belvedere run) so I'm going to hook that up with a boost referenced holley fuel pump. so my question is simply this. How long before it goes splat? I understand there can be a huge amount of what if but imagine the motor is for the most part not worn out being low miles how long do you expect the engine to live?

Keep in mind I'm going to build my 68 slant 6 with a nice set of forged pistons and I'll port and polish the heck out of the head and make that one the nice motor.

Probably run for a long while if you don’t crank the boost much. Your brother in-law just said run, didn’t say how much boost did he?

A "T2" is small for a 225 SL6... it will spool-up right off idle and then "choke" around 3000 RPM.

A Garret T2 is much too small for a 225. It would be right at home on a 1.6L engine, but even two of them is too little flow. I'd say run two of them, but packaging and plumbing would be a pain. Also, a 600 CFM 4bbl carb is way too much. For simplicity I would just modify a 500 CFM Holley 2bbl. A boost referenced fuel pressure regulator and a pump that will produce 5 psi plus whatever boost you will run is what you need for fuel delivery.

"choke" how? like just top out on boost? I'm not to concerned with that. this motor will just be a trial turbo engine anyways. I'm thinking maybe a max of 10psi (more likely just up are 6-8 ) would be good numbers to shoot for.
He had it on his rotary engine and I'm mostly grabbing it because it's cheap and I know it's good. I've come to learn that taking things slow is better then going fast and destroying good parts.

Basically, you "over-speed" the compressor and the efficency falls off fast.
