Hello everyone,
Its time to start building my 225 hyperpak, Ive recently bought the K1 long rods ang wiseco pistons, but I need some help with cam selection and with the head work.

I've noticed the article buzzing half dozen part 2 I'm running an auto also. Is the engle cam a good choice with these rods and pistons?
Should I use a hardened oil pump gear with this cam?

With the head is the 1.70" 1.44" combo a good choice?
How much should I mill the head?
Single or double valve springs?

The car is a 62 valiant,
Theres is no budget and Im thinking 3.5 ratio in the rear end.
98 octane fuel is what Im planning on using.

Although I've meant to get around to a hyperpak long rod mill, I haven't done it yet. One thing that might make things a bit tricky is the hang time of the piston at the ends of the stroke...a wet manifold carb based build might make it a bit problematic theoretically and a fair amount will depend on the cam of choice. Half a decade back I decided to side step that problem by going to EFI and a dry manifold with the long rod Hpak.

There are also some other considerations on this build as well for the street... the hpak likes to ram tune at 3500-5000... which won't be found on the highway...you will have some good low end torque...a good mod for added response and mid range pep is to put a divider in the plenum so your 4 barrel has a primary and secondary for 1-2-3 and 4-5-6.

Check some of my previous posts on making an Hpak run on the street there's plenty of work to be done to make everything to fit (are you cutting the hood to get the pie tin to fit?).

To make the best use of the ram tuning effect you will want to have the larger valves, some port work is also desired...

You also haven't said whether mileage is important...I've gotten 24 mpg all highway on mine, but I have a heavier car with overdrive, and i was using a smaller holley for daily driving which castrated some of the power out of my launches at the track.... (or getting out of the way of bad drivers...)

Do you have any pics as to the divider that you mentioned? how long ,how tall etc. All this has crossed my mind since I once worked with max wedge cross rams. I used popsicle sticks........Could you pass on some of this info as it takes a lot of time to tune a manifold in........certainly would be appreciated.

24 mpg sounds great I'd love to be able to get that from mine! I know its going to use fuel but I dont want to be a total guzzler!

I've heard about splitting the plenum, crap just finishined polishing my manifold!!

I thort cam issues would be a problem with the long rods and hyperpak, do you know how I go about getting the right cam?? Is the engle cam KV1 ideal?

Lift 0.546/0.546
Lobe centre 108 degrees
lash settig 0.010 (I) 0.020 (E)

Compression ratio? is 9.2:1 ideal for running a H.P???

thank you DI ..................There is so much information on this forum it should be in book form or at least on a CD. I just can't read and absorb it all being new back here after being gone for 10 years.
You don't know how much time a and problems you just solved for us. It is very much appreciated. If there is anything I could do for you just let me know. It would be awful to ruin a hyper-pac out of ignorance.

Anyone have any suggestions on where i can get a cam done for this application? Or getting specs on cams for engine blue printing??
