hello sl6 sages- one of the best things about this forum is not only the specialized knowledge and generosity of the many sages but also the many hidden parts caches of members. i probably have the most difficult questions since my vehicle is a 353000 mile 77 sl6 aspen wagon. the big problem remains unusual repairs and difficult to find parts. if onemore person tells me to junk this tank and buy a new wedgemobile, tragedy may result. well here is the question- i need a hinge pin forthe lower hinge ontheright front door. pep boys has a selection from helps/dorman butnot for this model. the 76-80 aspen/volare and its brothers in m and j bodies are not listed. the old pin is worn half way through and causes the door todrop 3 inches when opened. any ideas on sources ? does anybody have one in their cache? thanks tons... callpaladin@aol.com

My advice is to buy a Mopar Action and/or a Mopar Muscle mag and look through the advertisers. There's a place called Acme that rebuilds hinges, and several other places can probably get you the pin or a whole replacement hinge. Another possiblity is posting on "parts wanted" here and you will probably get someone to send you a good used one.

Happy hunting,

Lou

The guys at Acme are up here in Wa. Bob's a cool guy, with a nice lil' Superbird. The prices tend to lean toward the spendy side though. http://www.superbirdbob.com/greasable_hinges.htm is the URL for ACME's hinges.

Someone else here suggested RT Specialties at www.rtspecialties.net for something else. Anyway, when I was at that site I noticed they also have door hinge kits that come complete with hinge pins and bushings for upper and lower hinges. I needed them too so I ordered them as well. I haven't received them yet so don't know how it will go.
