Bottom line is that IF you show up with a slow street car at a Slant race expecting to win you better be able to drive the thing. Many people HAVE done it.

Besides, anyone who has ever spent time at a Slant race knows that 90% of the fun of being there occurs off the track.

Karen and Stephanie.

No, I was actually thinking more along the lines of the Pizza Hut/Jerry's Nugget/American Station get togethers, tipi's in the pits, tearing apart Slant motors to fit them into the back of new Dodge minivans, stuff like that. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Seems to me the issue is not the boxes themselves, but rather getting the tracks to turn off Crosstalk.

I've been the faster car footbraking off Crosstalk, and it can be annoying. I stare at the bottom bulb anyway, so it wasn't a big deal to me.

Since we are always our own class anyway I see no reson why any track would demand Crosstalk on to start with. Any track that says they con't turn it off for the whole class (or even individual passes) is just trying to be difficult.
I have been to races that folks said no cross talk and I might as well go home.
I am not a big fan of the boxes.
Frank

Mark and Ceej I like your attitude race your lane and your number on the windshield and don't worry about who is in the other lane. Way to go!
Rick you may put me on the trailer in the first round and believe me it sure wont the the first time it has happened. If you do I will be the first to come shake your hand. The only reason I have been doing this so long other than liking slant 6's is the family atmosphere that it has always been. Fellow slant 6 racers while being fierce competitors have always been there to help each other at the track if help is needed. We have raced hard to win, did a lot of bench racing afterward and couldn't wait for the next race. I don't recall any real problems the series has had over the years. It has been good fun. If it don't stay that way it will not grow in fact it will go the other direction. Some may think we need to bring up the box issue I ask what is next after that? It might be more advantageous to the community to be thinking of ways to bring in new racers instead of pushing a few out.
Sorry for the rant. Just a few thoughts.
Ron

Well said, Ron. We need fresh blood, and whatever fosters that is what we will push for as a Slanted Family. Anyone who comes to a race can see what we are all about.

I am really looking forward to Hagerstown. See you all in a few days!

Lou

I guess I was "fresh blood" last year, Mason Dixon was my 1st slant six drag race. I think the thing that I liked most was how helpful all the slant six guys were. Everyone was extremely friendly, and made us new guys feel welcome. I think the thing that attracts guys in the stands are the fast /6 cars. I remember being in the stands and listening to the V8 guys who were amazed Ron's car was running 12.0??'s last year. Hopefully this year we will have a few fast cars, and some quick manual shifted street cars, and maybe we'll attract even more racers to come out next time. See you all this weekend!
