Hi,

So I am trying to complie a list and get abit of expertise from all of you guys.

Trying to determine what the best NA streetable performance slant 6 engine is.

Would appreciate you guys adding what you think the best would be/what you've heard is the best etc.

This is what I have.
Head ported and polished.
Long runner 4 bbl intake with at least 350holley.
more radical cam
headders
custom high compression pistons
bigger valves
crankshaft grind etc
Engine bored out 0.60"

What do you guys reckon?

I've been researching a lot on this forum, and a lot of stuff is scattered in bits and pieces
I'm trying to determine what to do to my motor and I've already done some of the things mentioned.
I'm still new at this so please be nice.

Thanks.

I assume you have not looked at this thread?

"Best" combo really depends on the eye of the beholder. Mine works well for me, runs 14s, and I drive it everywhere with 24-27 MPG. It is loud and stiff ride and bumpy cam, though.

I agree with Lou... there is no single "best" but for me, it's about meeting expectations on a "purpose built" engine.

Example: I want a race engine that will run on pump gas, run low 14 on the motor & mid 12s on the spray, have a decent idle and leave the starting line hard and I want it to last all season, may-be 2 seasons, with-out issues... The current engine in my racecar does all that and a bit more so expectations met.

Another tip... the really nice engines are not made from the "right" list of parts. it is all the attention to details that makes one better then the rest.
Maticulous block prep work, round / straight cylinder bores, to the correct clearance, properly sized lifter bores, straight main line, light & well balanced rotating assembly, proper cam selection - matched to intended RPM range and degreed-in, proper static compression ratio for the cam and fuel used, meticulous cylinder head work... the list goes on but you get the idea.
