Another set of points is cheaper than the electronic conversion. If your going to keep the car maybe you could get all the pieces from WildCat or go with the HEI conversion. Either way you would need the newer style distributor with the electronic pickup and wiring harness plugs.

I would at least change the points and condenser for now. Do the tune up, valve lash, carb test and then swap out the exhaust manifold. That is a good bit of work!

Maybe the guys have some spares for that too?

Wildcat is spendy....and at this point if I'm going to put money in to the car, why not go with new?

So I will call on the points and condenser. I remember Neil taking the points out and roughing them up on the pavement then putting them back in...

Don't give up, maybe you can find a NAPA in your area. They have them and the MO-3000 long tip rotor and the BlueStreak CH410X cap.

The BlueStreak is a bright blue cap with copper contacts inside. They last longer and do not corrode as easily as aluminum contacts.The MO-3000 long tip rotor is usually cast in a dark brown. Hope that helps!

The blue streak is what I have in her now. Hasn't been in too terribly long either.....hmmmm. I just figured since i was going to do the plugs and wires go ahead and do the cap and rotor too....

Now to let her cool down so I can start in on her.

That's another thing though.......she is running way too hot. No, the temp gauge doesn't work. The thermostat was done in her last summer when her water pump went out....

In regards to your comment on the engine running hot........

On the spark plug side of the block under plug number 5 you can feel about half way down the side of the block towards the pan there should be a pipe plug sticking out of the side of the block or a petcock drain. It would be interesting to see if any water will come out. If not, it may be full of rust and just not circulating very well. Josh or one of the guys could show you were it is and check it.....You may need to stick a screw driver in there to break up the rust to get it to drain again. If that is the case the block could use a good flushing. That might help the cooling a little......When mine was rebuilt we took out 3 coffee cans of rust and old casting wires. It cools much better now!
I am sure the guys will give it a good check.

THIS GUY is selling what he calls a complete slant six electronic ignition conversion kit, including distributor, for $80.

i think the JB weld is an AWESOME idea. i've done it so many times and it's totally worked. there's always a bubblegum fix, and this one is sure-fire!

Thursday I drove Vera up to Yacolt to visit Josh. He work some magic on her and she runs so much better. Wasn't the carb or the choke(seems beating on the choke a bit with the screw driver helped!?)

1.lashed valves

6.new rotor

What am I forgetting..? I'm tired...it's been a long weekend. After saying the cursed words "she's running like a whole new car!" she decided to blow her left front wheel bearings finally....!!!

Now a trip to Wildcat most likely for a new left front hub. This one is SHOT.
