hopefully in the next week my A/C kit will arrive. It's a universal kit and does not come with brackets. Those I can make, but not a pulley. Does anyone have one that bolts to the front of the damper they would be willing to sell?

Are you aware of the A/C compressor mount kit I sell?

If you still just want a power steering (that is the one that bolts on the front) send me a PM

I found that not soon after I put up my post. Maybe you can help me. I was hoping to mount the compressor under the alternator on the passenger side of the engine, is there enough room under there? I don't have the compressor yet so I can't see for myself.

What year/model car? On a 66 down "A" body, I would have to say there is not enough room. However, it sounds like you do not have power steering. So, with a stock exhaust manifold, or certain headers, I don't see why the compressor could not be fitted in the location used by the power steering pump. You would have to fab up a bracket.

I guess I should wait until the compressor gets here so I can see where I am going to mount it and if I need the pulley in front of or behind the damper. As soon as it does I'll be pinging you guys about the pulley.

Charlie, if I can't put it down low your mount will be a bargain.

If you can mount it low, I would try to use a power steering pulley on the front of the damper, and use the front groove of the A/C compressor. That should work since you don't have power steering. The power steering pulleys are much easier to find than the A/C pulleys and are easier to install.

I made my bracket to use the rear most pulley so it would fit the most different combinations as possible.

The kit got here today and there's just no easy way to mount the compressor low and out of sight. I'd have to move the alternator up or over to the other side and I'd just be chasing my tail.

The compressor does have a double pulley, did the factory use two belts with A/C? Any pictures on belt routing?

Charlie, I am going to rummage around my scrap bin and see what I can come up with for a bracket. If I get distracted I'll order yours. I probably should have just done that three weeks ago, but I do like to make stuff. Either way I'll need a pulley for the crank.

Most universal kits use the Sanden style compressor with a 2 groove pulley. An installation on a slant six will only use 1 groove. Since you are going to make your own mounting bracket, you can use which ever groove works best for you. Belt routing pics.

Well today I put in a solid eight hours and all I managed to accomplish was getting the evaporator and condensor mounted. At this rate it will be cold out before I finish. Charlie, I'll take your bracket and pulley. You're right on in regards to the compressor. what else do you need to know and do you take PayPal?

Took it to the post office on Monday, but missed the last pickup. It will go out today (tue).

Charrlie, Have you tried the Dutra dual set up with this bracket? It looks as though there wouldn't be any interference. Also will be using an OZ hurricane intake. What do you think?

The Dutra manifolds should be OK, although I haven't tried them. I think any exhaust will work, as the exhaust is below the intake manifold, and the mount is about the same hight as the intake. The brace between the mount and the motor mount bolt might have to be modified.
I am concerned about the hurricane intake. I have asked Frank if he could send me one of them to trial fit.
