I was talking to a man about my /6 Savoy and he said he has a '73 Dodge SWB pick-up for sale. It also has a /6, 3 speed w/od. He says it quit running after he worked on the carb. He wants $500.00 but I'm hopeing to get it cheaper since it doesn't run. Will these trucks with this type of tranny pull anything substantial??? What are some of the quirks for this year model truck. UPDATE!!! I originally posted this as a '73 for $500.00 but its an '83 and I bought it for $400.00 and it already has a factory 2bbl carb. I even got it to run but it has a carb issue. I hope to tow it home this weekend. I hope I can figure out how to post pics.

Well I got this truck home and cleaned out the carb and I'm running it out of a 1 gal jug. It runs all right. Its has the polution stuff removed. The EGR is still attached but no vacuum hose is going to it. The tube to the exhaust has been crimped off. I wish I knew what to block off and what to leave connected. I'm going to drop the gas tank and clean it out this weekend. This 3speed with OD has a lot of power. I was surprised. I turned in the 2 air mixture srews and it didn't kill the engine so I must have some kind of internal carb problem. Any advice as to the step by step procedure I should follow. Thanks for any help.

Well I dropped the tank and the sending unit/pick-up tube had a rubber hose that collasped. No parts store carries this part so I got one out a salvage yard. The new/used part came out of a '85 truck and they corrected the flaw from the '83. This part came out of a larger gas tank so I hope to bend the arm on the float to get me near a reading that will keep me from running out of gas. You can't even get a sock for one of these units so I left it off. But at least I'm running gas out of the tank and driving my newest /6. The planets are in alignment!!!
