I have heard good things about the 500 eddies, I know of 2 racers that have them and love them. I was not knocking them in any way, my only point is that they are more carb than a slant needs, if I were bying a NEW carb I would get one before a Holley due to ease of tuning.

The 500 on Ryan's bone stock truck runs great. As a matter of fact it was run for months just as it came from the factory. As long as you are driving sensibly and only running on the primaries, I bet it gets as good if not better mileage than the 2 barrel. Don't know for sure, just guessing. The Edelbrock also offers much tuneability and no mess like the Holley.
