Hi I wasn't sure where to put this.

I want to get a thermo fan setup for my 1967 VC valiant.

Anyone done this kind of thing before?

What I don't understand is this:

Is the fan just always going to be on?

Or do you some how install a temperature gauge into the radiator etc so the fan knows when to turn on.

Also is this fan better or worse than the fan that is with the engine?

As you are in Oz,I would suggest that you have a look on the local Mopar Market board.There are more VC's in Oz than the US.:lol:
I have'nt checked all the threads,but there are 19 pages of stuff on thermo fans,and there is bound to be mention of a VC somewhere in there.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that space to fit a thermo to a VC is a problem.
On a standard installation there is a thermostat switch that brings the fan on at whatever temperature you set it for.

Click on the red link below my name. When the picture comes up, double click on it for full screen slide show mode. In the pics you will see a GM temp sensor in my radiator. This unit turns the fan on and off. Look under the Engine FAQ for the Electrical FAQ-More Ignition information then go to Ted's Simplified Electric Fan wiring schematic info

I have been running this setup for several years now and found it to be very reliable. The only up grade I have done is loose the fuse......it melted on day about 3 years ago. I had just washed the engine compartment and it got wet. Install a 20 amp circuit breaker instead. No fuses to blow and it works great! :D

It helps in many ways providing better mileage, no heat soak if you leave it armed after shut off, no vapor locking on hot days or any hard starts. I also added a heat deflector under the carb which also helps. Hot starts after 30 minutes are explosive. No more cranking...... :D :D :D
