OK, Yes, I have read the engine build matrix, I have scoured the forum looking at builds, quarter mile times, etc. That being said and done I ask this.
Can some of you experienced Slanters post your formula for a streetable 14 second car. Parameters: 1963 Dodge Dart 270, 225, 904. Full interior, daily driver, good handling (no drag suspension set ups) no turbo or supercharger.
No small task for sure but I have confidence in your guys and this is just fun!

Look here:

http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php ... ht=64+dart

Car has ~60k on it by me, and I reringed the motor 4 yrs ago (~12k miles). A few dozen drag/road course events.

Been driving this around for 15 yrs and running 14s for 13 yrs. Hope to do some engine mods (finally) and drop to 13s next year??

Lou

OK, this is my idea.
Fresh bottom end, good rod bolts, the best pistons I can afford, cast iron rings. Hi-vol Oil Pump. A real 9:1 C.R. Clifford 3-2-1 headers, 2-1/4" pipe to Walker super turbo single in/ dual out muffler with 2" pipes out the back.
Hyper pack intake (given I can acquire one ), 450 Holley (I already have).
Electronic Ignition, Self ported head with 1.70/1.44 valves, HP Valve Springs,
Erson 270 or similar. 904 with 3000-3200 stall speed, 1957 ford 9" with 3.50:1 gears (Already got it). And maybe a 70 hp shot if I can figure out how to adapt the Zex universal wet system I have off an Eclipse.
What say ye? critiques welcomed.
Brad

You will not need the HV oil pump...

Cylinder head porting work w/ oversize valves... the head is where the most power is hiding.

2nd vote for head work, skip the h-pak not enough bang for the buck.

As for the bottom end if your budget allows I would look for a long rod set-up. GREAT headwork with engbldr valves, and port work. Finally since your goal is a 14 second quarter and wasn't mileage might as well look for 4.11's to stuff in the rear.

Yes on the headwork. You will definitely need nitrous to hit 14s with that combo.

Yes I am leaning toward a milder build and a lil spray. This is a long term project and all this will happen incrementally. I am just trying to get a good handle on some proven combinations and what they run E.T. wise.
Thanks for all the input. More please.
