It should be stamped on the block, just under the #1 spark plug. You may have to clean off a lot of goo to find it. The block has a portion that sticks out about 1/4", the numbers are stamped on that portion and you should be able to read them looking straight down.
If you post the numbers we can tell you more.

Martin-UK,

Fopar is correct, the displacement, as well as baring info, will be stamped on the top of the block that protrudes from under the head below #1 plug. However, if the block has been machined, there is a good possibility those stampings were not re-stamped by the machine shop.

Another number that identifies the age of the casting is cast into the block under the freeze plugs, and still another casting number is located on top of the spring side of the head under the valve cover, as well as casting number on the transmission, and on some rear ends; all of which can be looked up here.

If you are wondering if you have a 225 or 170 cu. in engine, look for a short length of heater hose connecting the block & head dead center of the front end of the head. If it is just under three inches long it’s a 225, if the hose is about 1 ½ inches long it is a 170 cu. inch engine.

A 198 cu inch has to be identified by that little stamping below #1 plug as it uses the 225 block with a different crank & length rod from a 225, externally they both look the same.

It was rumored that Mopar had several ideas for the slant six. Like a diesel, Hemi and what ever. :?:
