hey guys as some of you know i had got a edelbrock carb 1405 600cfm carb for free from a buddy of mine who very foolishly bought a holley 80457-S reman carb trying to solve his "excessively rich" problem, dumb i know, silly slowmaro owner haha, any way he couldn't get the car running right, and kept messing with it until he gave up and called me, so i told him i would swap out his carbs, i keep the holley and he gets his old edelbrock back, swapped them, played around with the eddy, his timing, and found a few vacuum leaks and fixed them.

so now i have a holley 600cfm single feed inlet vac secondary, non float adjustable square bore straight leg electric choke carb. before i even contemplate selling, can i make this carb work on a boosted motor ??

I would like to change from vac secondaries to mechanical

is a single feed inlet suffiecent ??

can it be converted to a double pumper, and is a double pumper overkill ??

i am assuming the removal of the electric choke is easy enough, its florida i never get cold enough to matter lol

or should i sell it for what i can, and put my money towards a 390 ??

-Mike

Vacuum secondaries can't go mechanical they have different drilled and designed to run vacuum secondaries unless theres some mod you can do i'm not sure

I dont think that carb would like seeing boost pressure becauxse of the vac secondaries also

You'll need to bone up on the Holley carb using one of two books on them...The Emanuel book does have a section on how to modify the holley for use with boost (blow and draw through).

80457 isn't a bad carb, I use one that has been modified with annular boosters in the hpak duster...used to be only my drag carb...but it's serving daily driving duty at the moment...

You would have been much better off with the Edelbrock for blow through use than a vacuum secondary Holley. Studebaker used AFBs on most of their Supercharged cars.
