I have look and look but can't find.
How do I check a electronic control module to see if it is good or not?

There used to be an old Mopar EI checking tool (basically plug it in and see if the lights light up for a good EI).

Not sure if anybody ever ended up with one of those boxes...it's kind of a limited use item to have around the garage.

I just toss it into a bucket of water. If it sinks, I flip a coin, heads install a unit that I know works, tails I install a unit I know works, and than discard the wet one.

Just kidding, I don’t really use water…

One thing you can check is that the unit has a good ground, necessary for proper operation.

The spare unit is your test device…

So here is another question on a related subject (if I may but in ). Should I be getting shocked (feeling electrical current) from my ECU when my fingers are touching both the center metal "button like device" and the heat sink? I say no but then again, there are a lot of other people here that are more knowledgeable on this subject than me.

Short answer is yes-Just like the one you get across the points and for the same reason (has to do with collapsing magnetic fields/lines of force that make the big spark)
