 Post subject: timing mark plate

my timing marks are rusted, so i can not read any of the numbers. Anyone have a picture so that I can identify where to set timing to. 73 swinger.

Take some steel wool or fine sand paper, such as 320 grit, and clean off the rust from the degree marks. Once cleaned, rub a little white paint, or “White Outâ€￾ into the markings to highlight them.

Yep, what I had success in doing was to soak the piece in pine sol (the original pine scent, not the fruity flavors) and the next morning rinse it with scalding hot water. It removed years of grime and paint and then I steel wooled it like mentioned above. I painted it engine color, then took a toothpick and painted the numbers a contrasting color. If you need pics, I will be happy to go take some.

Thanks for the help guys.....but I have cleaned up pl,ate and repainted........only problem is that I can not make out any of the numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have clean notches but no idea what is the number that goes with each notch.
