I need to replace the intake manifold in my 225 3.7L. due to hole/holes.

I've heard from the few mechanics I've had that used ones have warped into a 'set' to their block after 25+ years, so renewing, not replacing with another from a twin brother engine, is the way to go, they say.

If this is the case, why do I see so many ( a few, really) fs on this forum and the eBay and such?

Just a machine/mill facing and their good to go?

"While I got the hood up..." any good recommendations for a vendor of NEW intake manifolds for the slant six, 77'?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Worth mentioning, I'm new to this forum, so I apologize if this info is on another page and I haven't seen it yet.
Its a good problem that their is SOOOoo much information here.
Thanks,
TIII
a used one is fine... just check with straightedge if not flat, machineshop can fix.
Make sure to have exhaust manifold bolted to it when machined so both are flat and same plane
Like he said, a used one is fine, just check for warpage.
You could also spend some more money and get a new Offenhauser intake, but you would need an adapter if you aren't going to use a 4bbl.
Thanks to both of you.
I want to go with a used intk mnfld with some trust and faith it'll work but I'm prepared for the car to tell me to pull out the plastic card.
Whats the most dangerous about my wrench turning is that, sometimes, I THINK I know what i'm doing. Then, blood, $ signs, and cursing.
I hope to be a regular here.
Usually it is the exhaust manifold & not the intake that give people the most trouble...
See this article some installation tips.
Just got the exh mani today from the brown delivery truck.
Haven't even opened the box. I want to wait till I got the intk mani ready before I get down and dirty.
