Okay, I think it is finally time for a cam. Here is what I have right now:

1) Pertronix II, hot coil
2) Clifford Headers
3) Offy intake manifold with Holley 350CFM 2 barrel
4) Engbldr larger valves
5) 2.25" single pipe with Flowmaster
6) Head milled a few times

Any suggestion on which cam to get? I like the look of the Erson 270.

What type of vehicle do you have?
How much does it weigh?
What is your rear end ratio?
What do you plan to do with the vehicle?
racing? street cruiser (limited driving)? daily driver?
What is your compression ratio?
What kind of mileage can you live with?

These questions are just some of many that would influence cam choice.

If the compression ratio were a true 9:1 I'd say the Erson 270 would be fine. A slightly higher stall speed torque converter might be nice if your car employs such a thing.

Type of car : 1963 Dodge Dart 4 door
Weight of car: Unknown, but has all the stock interior, and exterior trim
Rear end gear: 3.23
Type of driving "Toot around town"
Compression: Unknown, but milled twice since I got it, and will be milled again during the change over. It might be 9.
Mileage desire: Doesn't matter that much.

Thanks Ted.

Josh - thanks, and what rpm stall converter would I have stock, and what rpm are you suggesting. What would that do for me?

So you do have an automatic? Do you have a tachometer?

OK, warm the car up. Park the car with clear space in front of it. We don't want to run anyone or anything over. Set the parking brake, stand on the brake with you left foot, observing the tachometer quickly give it full throttle (a couple seconds duration is fine) and release. The peak RPM with the brakes locked at full throttle is your current torque converter stall speed. It's probably around 1800 RPM. With an Erson 270 I'd want something 2200-2400 RPM for a car that sees mostly street duty. Since you have a push-button trans you'll have to have one custom made. Expect to pay around $400 for something decent.

Okay, I am just putting on the headers right now. I should have it running early next week, and will give that a shot, and see if I understand it correctly. Thanks.
