My rebuilt/new and extremely clean single barrel Carter (C-3, 62229 1973) was not excepting fuel. Indeed the fuel is getting to it, but the float bowl is empty and won't fill up. Engine starts w/gas down the throat or starting fluid as well.
I have the carburetor off the car now, took it apart and 2 small silver "bearings" fell out of the lower half.
Where do these go?
Where should I start?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Gina

It sounds like a stuck needle valve or a damaged / mis-adjusted float.

As for the two balls, they control the fuel flow thru the accelerater pump circuit. One ball goes under the pump plunger and the other goes in a small "well" next to the squirt nozzle.

Doc-
thank you so much for that. My eyes are hurting and I was falling asleep reading forum after forum on the same exact thing. Funny, but if you Google "ball bearings fell out of Carter Carburetor" you get enough to read- like me.
Thanks again for the link and information.. I don't know why there are two balls- alot of unknowns w/this car.
