Working on a long con rod SL6, using the Wiseco / K1 parts. (3.504 bore)
The piston & rods just went together and we are "fitting" the rings now. (end gap check and file & recheck...)
Here are some photos of our parts... nice stuff, even befroe we did the special prep work.

We did chamfer the two middle oil return holes... only on the "downhill" side.
But there is something else...

Doc,

Those pics bring back memories of a year ago when I was Putting Ruster's engine together.

are you using cast crank K1 rods or forged crank?

What valve size do you intend on running?? I am sure you are aware anything over~1.48 / /1.70 might crate some piston to valve interference as Guzzi Mark and I found out last winter / spring........

Also please enlighten us on the Oil ring supply holes / Chamfers.

Thanks for your time,

Greg

I like the ringed wrist pin instead of pressed and the skirt coating is nice too.

Seeing that we drilled oil "spit" holes into the K1 rods, pointed up & into the pistons, we want to quickly return oil off the lower cylinder wall... so we added chamfer to those lower / inner oil return holes.

And yes... we have a winner...
The piston tops have been cut-down .140
We now have a true "zero deck" engine with this one.

That was $100.00 to the winner right?

Hope you don't melt those shiny new pistons - NA only? 0.140" off is a lot.

The plan is to start-off this motor in N/A configuration with 11 to 1 static CR and go from there... a small shot of spray would be the next step, then more CR if it "lives".
I am most concerned about breaking the top ring land...

I found a "before" photo of this piston, (thanks MS Matt)
The valve notches are now 3 cc's

Slinging too much oil on the cylinder wall may cause intake charge dilution with a low octane fuel. OIL!
