1966DartConvertible,

Looks real nice, remember any short cuts now will be catching your eye until the next repaint, so keep those standards high. Once everything is clean & painted it gives one a nice warm feeling.

One thing I know would drive me nuts that I spotted in the engine bay photos; what color & mess is residing under the top shock bushing. I know if this were my project, something nasty would show once new shocks are installed.

Bill

Noted on the shock top mount. Will try and get the shock out (I dont think you need the front shocks to be there for now right? The rears I know you need coz when you jack up the car, the rear shocks are holding the rear suspension from extending beyond its limits) Correct me if Im wrong.

Thanks

Correct on the front shock. Rears may or may not matter where these cars have leaf springs, the axel won’t go too far as a coil spring rear might when jacked up.

One more question, did you examine the water gutter below where the top fabric attaches for pin holes? I found on my 67 that there were several holes & soft spots in the gutter which would funnel rain water directly into the trunk. Also in front of the rear wheel wells and to the door jam there are a few drain holes along the inside of the rocker panel to let water out that the gutter dumps into that area. Be sure to dig out all the accumulated crud along that seam, and re open those water ways.
