I to have a Holley 390 air fuel mixing project. I’m beginning to believe that 390 means how many times one has to screw around with it per year… I have four power valves sitting on my desk that have been in and out of that carburetor, a few sets of jets that have been in and out, as well as a boxed selection of secondary vacuum diaphragm springs also cycled in and out of the mix. Still haven’t hit the common sweet spot for economy & power after almost three years of experimentation. It is a confounding Rube Goldberg device…

I’m convinced that if I were to keep the 4 v concept and not even close to stock build presently haunting my engine, a 500 Eddy would be top of the list.

Dear Santa,

First off, thanks for the socks last Christmas. I used them to dust out the bores on my Slant Six prior to reassembly. If I wore musical socks with Rudolph on them, the guys around here would kick my butt.

This year, lets try for something a bit more appropriate, like an Edelbrock 1802. I'd get the 1801 with the electric choke, but I'm just going to cut the horn off anyway while searching for more zap at the strip.
Don't bring the 1803! That's for multi-carb setups, and I can't use that on my engine.

I don't want to be greedy here, the 18024 sure is pretty, but that finish is going to get all screwed up when I have the carb body clamped to my milling table.

If your just going to bring socks, let me remind you how much I love Venison, and I live in the sticks. Sleigh wrecks happen around here all the time. Get the hint there fat boy?

GOOD ONE ! Just another tidbit for all. Don't be afraid of the Edelbrock remans that are available. I have been buying and using them for 10 years.
A Socal speed shop owner had told me that returned new carbs are completely gone through and hand built by one person and tested before being sent out and resold. Also talked to employees at SEMA and was told the same story. They have 4 guys that do the remans and do quality control reports as to where the faults are found and are up dated for the assembly line crew. Plus you can save a few bucks.
