Why do you say different pistons?
Now that the valves are packed in there, the chamber looks a bit small...after putting a couple plugs in, I'd be ineterested to see how
much the chamber CC's at...the piston top may need valve reliefs,
or shaping to help move the contents of the chamber in the correct direction...or if the chamber with plugs is say...only 28cc... you'll want a
dished piston for street use....

A mock up would tell the whole story...

I would love to see some real financial backing from a big magazine or racing company to see this project come together. An injected, crossflow-24 valve-dual-cam-headed 170 or 225 would be a VERY interesting build. Remote oil pump, distributorless coil-pack ignition. Wheee.
Only if its a hemi. :tsk:

Some very good detective work Martin. It will be interesting to see what else you can dig up. Thanks, Wayne.

Looks like a Hemi to me. I wonder what type of RPM that thing turned?

Did some looking on the internet,
found this post
http://forums.autosport.com/lofiversion ... 21732.html

the video is a must see,, the cars are hot!
Scroll around, looks like most of Siempre Te Amare' is on u tube,,

Martin,,are these the cars of the Argentina SP?

the forum post has this comment
I have been misleaded: in 1971, I can confirm, even rear-engined cars had 4.0 litres engines... the same as front-engined ones.

Only the Fords were V8s. Tornado, Chevrolet 250 and Dodge (Slant Six?) were 6 cylinders in line.

Displacement:
Tornado: 3.950 cc
Ford: 3.940 cc
Dodge: 3.950 cc
Chevrolet: 3.950 cc

The Tornado engine (233?) was the only one with OHC.

Power (extracted from "Corsa" nº 218, 23/6/1970)

Ford V8: 354 HP at 6.700 rpm
Tornado: 310 HP at 5.400 rpm
Dodge: 315 HP at 6.000 rpm
Chevrolet 250: not revealed.

may be an error on the OHC comment,, interesting anyway.

I take the liberty to link to an earlier thread from Polara1974, some very nice racing videos.

Slant Six Argentinean Race car "in-car" video

I also think the picture of the seemingly Hemi headed SL6 in this thread posted by brian72valiant may have some interest.

Olaf.

DadTruck,
Great serching on the web!!! Those are the "Formula SP" cars!!! great pictures also!!!

But for the Slant Six cars if they run a rear-engine car then it should be 3000cc and if the car was front-engine config then it coulb be as big as 4000cc.

I can now confirm that this head used 3 SPARK PLUGS and not direct fuel injection.

Still I can't find any picture of a car or even an Slant Six assembled with this head.

Tomorrow i'll post the two artyicles about Augusto Ciare and this heads.
Got to go to sleep.

Chau!

Amazing! Looks like a BMW S38 head in some ways except for the dual plug option.

the order of my projects
1) 83 D-150
2) 68 Barracuda
3) Argentina Sports Prototype,, front engine, It's just me but I like cars without wings

all slant powered, 1 & 2 are under way,, 3 is a new possibility,, space frame ( 60's birdcage?) , glass / aluminum body,, two seat, open roof, street run-about,, 300 horse, 1800 lbs would be the ticket!

Martin,

Thanks for your further sleuth work. Yes, it's amazing that no one outside Argentina seems to have heard of this stuff. How much for a complete working assembly?? 8) Maybe I need to make a trip to Argentina...

Cheers and Merry Xmas!

Lou

DadTruck, if you look long enough you can probably find one of these Formula cars hidden away ( about three blocks from your house)! DT's scrounging abilities are legendary. He may be on his way to Argentina even as we speak!

DT you can hide the car at my place until you add on garage space for a second time!

Here is the articles about Augusto Cicare and this head. They are in Spanish, if someone has the skills to use a text recognition soft and put this into a word file and translate that will be great! If none, well let me know and I'll translate this for you.

You can also se more pictures of the head. Here are the two articles:

I'm also trying to find out more info about this head with no luck so far ... about it's actual-racing performance, qtty produced and if there are some still around ... and eventually FOR SALE!!!

LEt me know if I should translate this for you or not!

Regards, Martin
