I can’t match up my power steering pump with the two listed pumps (1.2 & .96), in my 1967 FSM to make a positive ID. Several parts on this car are from years other than 1967, and also may be from other non “Aâ€￾ body models. I’m attempting to order new gaskets, and strip down the pump so it can be cleaned & repainted.

The manual is not clear to me as to how to remove the pulley from my pump. With this pump, the shaft is flush with the pulley, and the flange has four flats that a large wrench can be applied to. Dose one just attach a gear puller to the flange and pull off the pulley, or does it thread off the shaft?

The neck of the oil reservoir has a crack, or bad crimp and needs to be soldered.

Also I discovered someone used a smaller bolt, perhaps metric, to attach rear or reservoir side of pump to bracket, my second leak that has been plaguing me. This connection point has been non secured since I got the car, and perhaps caused a V belt derailment during a high rpm run this summer.

That looks like my 70 Challengers PS. I thought they are IDed by "oval" vs "round" filler neck.

Yup & nope. Both 1.2 and .96 pumps have round filler necks, .94 is illustrated in the 67 FSM and has an oval neck. The illustrations of 1.2 & .96 are somewhat different internally than the pump used on my car.

The two gaskets I need are the large “Oâ€￾ ring that seals oil reservoir to pump, and small rubber that seals the rear oil reservoir pump bracket bolt.

I most likely can clean & paint the pump with the pulley attached. Just won’t allow as good a job if disassembly were easily accomplished…

This is looking more and more like a PIA project.

I found a photo of my pump at Rock Auto. It is listed as rebuilt with a Cardone number: A1- 20124. So anyone know what that number converts to in Chrysler speak?

I also picked up a power steering pulley puller today. Dose anyone know if the pulley on this pump pulls off, or is it threaded on to the shaft?

Looks like a Federal type pump. The oval neck pumps where Saginaw's.

What you have there is called a thompson TRW pump. Do some searches on this pump and you should find what you are looking for. They are a little more rare.

Thanks 73NorthernDuster.

I have a Federal unit on the bench, and this TRW unit looks to be more complicated & compact in comparison.
