Hi,
Was thinking of getting one of these filters to be on the safe side, And I wanted to mount the fuel filter away from it's current location anyways.

Are they effective...?
Do they give a warning light...?
Are they expensive...
Anyone have any ideas on what I should get for my 225...?
and are they worth it...?

I just fitted my Aspen with a fuel filter/water separator combo, and it has worked just as promised. I have a heated indoor garage for my car, and driving in and out of it in the cold weather we have here, creates a lot of condensation in the fuel tank. Earlier I have used condense remover in the fuel the whole cold season, no need for that anymore. There are several filter types available, if you take a look at aggressiveTed's home page, you will see the type he uses, a spin-on canister you can get for about $35.00, if I don't remember wrong, summit has them. The filter I have is a Racor for use on boat engines (approved by the Coast Guard), it consits of a spin-on filter with a see-through clear glass bowl with a drain valve below it. Any water is clearly visible. The filter size is ten micron. I got mine from www.boatersland.com. Racor is probably the best on the market, but at a stiff price. The reason for my choice is the availability of new filter elements - we have a very long coastline full of marine equipment shops - more than for car accessories!

BTW, these filters are mounted on the suction side of the fuel pump, no problem about that - they have very low internal flow resistance. They can be fitted with a warning light, but as long as you can see through the filter bowl, a warning light is not really necessary. You can see the mounting instructions here.
