well at least i will be soon! i bought a super six intake tonight. stamped 4041043C. its a bare intake though and i need to start getting everything together so i can install it, but i dont have anything yet. thats where you all come in! ive read on here about the electric conversion kit #1232 from carbs only. what carb would you guys recommend? i want to put headers in too, i heard someone on here was making n selling them? any points of advice? i appreciate all your help!

its going into a 73 dodge tradesman.

if it's a stock /6 in ur van, headers may be overkill. the BBD i have made freeway cruising much nicer, but did not do a lot for the low end of the rev range. it may be the headers are working against me on a stock motor. and headers bring issues of heat that get pretty extreme in the dog house. i had to put a blanket on my master cylinder. the heat from the headers was boiling the brake fluid. if i were to do it again, i'd seriously look into the Dutra duals.

oh really?! i didnt know that. yeah i have a stock motor. just wanted to spice it up a notch. what headers do you have? is it not wise to do a super six set up if youre running a stock motor?

i found a set of Clifford shorty headers on Ebay. i had always wanted to try a set, this was my education. i am glad i tried them. i heard that the Dutra set up would be every bit as effective and not get as hot. but i wanted "HEADERS". and Ebay made the price rite. ur van has the engine farther forward than mine, u may get more fresh air in ur dog house.

just remember, headers get the heat out of the engine as well as the exhaust. u will need to work with it in some manner.

and braggin' rites will be minimal. who will seem them buried under there?

haha!

yeah true. but can you run side pipes without headers? thats all i really want, and i can cheech n chong it, but the real deal is way sweeter. ive been looking at the dutra headers, they seem to require some modifications to fit, which im not really the best at. but ill do more research. what car/van do you have?

Dutras will probably require less modification to fit than will other brand headers. If you are worried about heat or experiencing heat problems, try header wrap.

thx for the offer but i don't intend to take them off untill they have to
come off.
i would think u could run side pipes with any exhaust. it would just depend on how crafty ur exhaust builder is.

@ Reed,

i looked into header tape. i had been advased against it years b4 i had mine. i was told the tape would allow for condensation to collect and rust thru the pipes. when i was looking for answers i learned about the sealing goo that is available. if i had found that b4 i put them on, i may have tried it. now i don't want to make that much of a mess of the engine.


have u tried it?
