Crack?? Oh sh!t do I need to worrie about this crack? Its going into my van and will not be hopped up too much but I am kinda freaking out! This is my replacement engine for my blown one! CRAP!!!

I'd get a dremel and grind it out to see if it's a crack or a corrosion problem.

Grind out about 1/8" and see if it stops.

Looks very straight-can you see it down in the threads? Do you have a small sharp probe?

To me it just looks like a flaw in the casting of the block... it does not go down into the threads...just to edge of the hole. I looked at the headgasket and it conformed with the crack...not sure what that means :?:

I am getting so frustrated with this van....one problem then another :x

You could put a puddle of some WD40 or similar light liquid on the crack and see if it seeps in :?:

That would seem like the best thought, as you say the head gasket seems to conform to it. My thought is it is just a casting flaw.

If it was mine I would not worry about it-it does not look like a stress crack. More like a flaw.

Looks like more of a gouge or a scratch than a crack. I wouldn't worry about it for now...

Looks like a gouge to me, chase the bolt holes with a flat bottom tap, lube’em up, and torque her down.
